3 Back to School Teacher Crafts

by Lynn Lilly, Jul 26 2018

Back to school is here and I know all my teacher friends are excited to decorate their classroom and welcome their new class with fun colorful crafts! Im excited to partner with Michaels Stores to celebrate back to school!

The best part is that all the supplies can be purchased at your local Michaels or on Michaels.com. Teachers, did you know you always get 15% off your purchases with your teacher id! Michaels now offers buy online pick up in the store. It is the most convenient service EVER!

Teacher Door Sign

This sign is a great way to welcome your students each day. My favorite part is the clothespins and apples. I love the ideas of creating 5 words a week and introducing them to the students when they arrive each day! You can challenge them to live the meanings of those words throughout the week.

Teacher Crafts

Supplies:

Directions:

  1. Paint the plaque black and let it completely dry.
  2. Use the pencil to draw the outline of a pencil.
  3. Fill in the pencil drawing with cooresponding paint colors.
  4. I recommend letting each coat dry for 20 minutes before applying another coat. I applied 2 coats of each color.
  5. once the pencil is dry use the paint pen to write your name.
  6. Flip the sign over and glue ribbon to each side and tie together in a bow to create the sign hanger.
  7. Flip sign back over and glue the clothes pins across the bottom of the sign.
  8. Cut out the shape of an apple, leaf and stem from the construction paper and assemble with glue. Make an assortment of these so you have a supply to use throughout the year.
  9. Get creative with how you use the apples. I suggest having 5 words of the week and hanging them on the clothespins so the students see them when they walk in each day. Challenge your students to use/live the meanings of the words throughout the week.

Student Name Card

What better way to welcome your students to your classroom then making them each a giant pencil name sign on their desk!

Back to School Crafts

Supplies:

Directions:

  1. Cut out the parts of the pencil and glue together.
  2. Fold an 8.5x11 inch piece of cardstock in half hot dog style.
  3. Glue the pencil to the front of the cardstock.
  4. Trim around the edges so you can't see the white cardstock.
  5. Use the paint pen to write the child's name on the front.

Student Reward Jar

Keep your students on their best behavior with a reward jar! Create this fun jar to reward students when they do extra well, make a kind gesture or shine in a special way.

Supplies:

Directions:

  1. Cut small rectangular pieces from multiple colors of foam sheets. Make them big enough to fit names.
  2. Write your students name on each piece of foam.
  3. Cover the outside of the jar with the foam slips.
  4. Write the rewards on the craft sticks. Decorating with tape is optional.
  5. Fill the jar with the popsicle sticks and screw on the lid.

Every time one of your students does something well or they perform a special act let them pick a stick from the jar.
