Arts & Crafts Themed Kids Party

by Lynn Lilly, Apr 26 2023

If you follow me, you know I love a good party! I am already starting to plan my daughter Lily's 4th birthday in November. Birthdays have always been a huge deal in my house. For Lily's first birthday it was a Llama themed party with real llamas to greet guests, her 2nd birthday was Lily's version of Sesame Street and her 3rd birthday was Frozen themed with a snow machine to make our yard snowy.  This year the theme is Lily Land, and will be themed with her four favorite things.... Arts & Crafts, Animals (goat petting zoo - she loves goats), Sweet Shop and Music! For this week's Crayola facebook live broadcast  I am giving you small sneak peek of the how I am going to create the arts & crafts portion of the party. I am of course a little extra so this could be a whole party!

Arts & Crafts Themed Kids Party

All the Crayola supplies I used today can be found on Crayola.com

Arts & Crafts Activity:

Cut out the shapes of an ice cream cone, cupcakes from cardboard. Put out a bunch of craft supplies and let the kiddos decorate their own sweet treat.

DECORATIONS

Project: Rainbow Color Table Runner

Materials;

  • Crayola Construction Paper
  • Scissors
  • Crayola Washable Glue Stick

Directions:

  1. Fold one piece of construction paper in half hot dog style once. Then hamburger style.
  2. Cut out triangles along the two folded sides.
  3. Unfold to reveal one panel. Repeat with additional colors of construction paper.
  4. Once you have as many panels as you need use the glue sticks to glue them together.

Project: Crayon Name Sign

Materials

  • Crayola Construction Paper
  • Scissors
  • Crayola Markers
  • Pencil

Directions:

  1. Fold a piece of construction paper over 2-3" over. Draw a crayon tip. Cut out the tip and keep the paper folder over so it creates a tent shaped like a crayon.
  2. Cut two 1" pieces of black construction paper the width of the crayon.
  3. Cut each black piece in half by cutting a wavy line down the center.
  4. Glue the pieces at each end of the crayon.
  5. Write a name in the center.

Project: Crayon Water Bottle Wraps

Materials:

  • Crayola Construction Paper
  • Crayola Gel Markers (these are so cool)
  • Scissors
  • Pencil

Directions:

  1. Measure and cut a piece of construction paper that will fit around the size water bottle you are using.
  2. Cut black strips 1" thick and the length of the piece of paper from step one. Glue around the water paper to form the crayon wrapper.
  3. Cut an oval piece of construction paper that will fit between the black wavy lines.
  4. Use the gel markers to write the party attendees name on the oval. Watch the magic come to life as the marker dries and it brightens.

Project: Paint Palette Plates

Materials:

  • Clear Plastic Plates
  • Crayola Construction Paper
  • Scissors
  • Crayola Washable Glue Stick
  • Crayola Markers

Directions:

  1. Cut out 5-6 quarter size circles from different colors of construction paper.
  2. Cut out a brush handle from a black piece of construction paper. Cut a small piece of silver construction paper and white.  Draw lines with a pencil for the bristles and use a marker to add color to the tip. Glue all three pieces together.
  3. Flip the clear plates upside down so the bottom is facing up.
  4. Glue the circles around the center of the plate. Whatever color you picked for the tip of the brush glue that under the corresponding circle.
  5. Flip the plate over to reveal the palette.

This can be a cake plate or used during craft time and the kiddos can put paint on each color.

Have fun crafting and enjoying the party! Don't forget to tune in every Tuesday at 1:00pm EST on the Crayola FB page for more creative ideas!
