Celebrate Valentine's Day by crafting with the one's you love! As with every holiday these days it looks a little different but that doesn't mean you can't make memories and create your own special celebration. Lily is not in school so we created Valentine's favor bags that each had treats and some fun crafts she made and did porch drops last weekend. She got to wave hello to her friends and was so excited to give them their favors. To keep the celebrations going we are decorating the house all week with lot's of love and fun crafts.

Project 1: Paper Plate Conversation Heart Banner
Materials:
- Paper Plates
- Crayola Crayons or Color Pencils
- Crayola Washable Markers
- Crayola Washable Glue
- Ribbon
- Scissors
- Pencil
Directions:
- Fold the paper plate in half and draw half a heart. Cut out the heart and unfold to reveal the full heart. Determine how many hearts you want to have on your banner and repeat this step for each heart.
- Lay the paper plate heart on a purple piece of construction paper. Draw a heart on the construction paper that is about 1/2" bigger than the paper plate heart. Use the paper plate heart as a guide for the shape.
- Take a purple crayon or color pencil and lightly color the entire paper plate heart.
- Take a purple washable marker and outline the heart. Write a message or your name on the heart.
- Repeat steps 4-5 on each heart using different colors. Cut out construction paper hearts for each paper plate heart following the instructions in step 2.
- Glue each heart on the corresponding color of construction paper.
- Glue the hearts to piece of ribbon or string.
Project 2: Love Family Canvas
Materials:
- 12x12 Canvas
- Crayola Washable Paint in Pink, Purple, White and Red
- Crayola White Construction Paper
- Crayola Washable Glue or Glue Stick
- Paint Brush
- Crayola Take Note Markers
- Sponge Brush
- Scissors
- 3 Paper Plate
- Baby Wipes
Directions:
- Pour pink paint on one paper plate and purple paint on another plate.
- Start at one end of the canvas. Paint a 2" strip of purple paint across the canvas.
- Add a little white paint to the purple and mix with your brush until you have slighter lighter shade. Paint a strip of the lighter paint below the first strip. Use your brush to blend together.
- Keep adding white and gradually get lighter with your painting until you reach the center of the canvas.
- At the other end of the canvas start by painting a 2" strip of pink across the canvas. Add white to the pink to lighten it and paint on the canvas blending as you go. Continue to add white and paint across the canvas blending as you go until you reach the purple.
- Blend the lines between the purple and pink. You might need to add more of the lightest purple to help blend.
- Let the canvas completely dry.
- Grab your little ones for some stamping fun!
- I used my 3-year-olds hand and my newborns feet.
- Use a sponge brush to dab the red washable paint on your kiddos hand/foot and press straight down onto a piece of white construction paper. Use the baby wipes to wipe the paint off right after you are done stamping. It comes off really easily.
- Once the prints are dry cut around each print leaving a small border of white construction paper.
- Draw and cut a L and E out of the white construction paper. Size the letters based on the size of the hand and foot prints.
- Use a glue stick or a light coat of washable glue to attach the letters and the handprint (as the O) and the feet prints (as the V) to the canvas.
- Handprint a saying of your choice on the extra scraps of white construction paper. Cut around the message leaving a white border. Glue to the canvas.
I love how this canvas turned out! It is the perfect keepsake!
Project 3: Monster Treat Bags
Materials:
- Crayola Construction Paper
- Crayola Glue Stick
- Crayola Washable Glue
- Monster Template
- Pipe Cleaners
- Clear Treat Bags
- Googley Eyes
- Pencil
- Scissor
Directions:
- Download, print and cut out the pieces on the monster template.
- Pick out the colors of construction paper you want to use for your monsters.
- Trace and cut out the monster body, arms, tongue, mouth, eye hearts and antenna hearts. For the body of monster trace at the bottom of a sheet of construction paper, then fold the construction paper so the top of the monster's head is on fold. Cut out both sides leaving the fold so the monster opens like a book. Cut out the mouth on the front side.
- Glue the tongue to the back of the mouth. You will need to trim off the bottom of the heart that is the tongue.
- Glue the eye hearts above the mouth. Glue the googley eyes on top of the eye hearts.
- Glue the mouth around the front of the opening.
- Glue the arms so they are coming out the sides of the monster.
- Cut a pipe cleaner in half. Glue an antenna heart to the end each pipe cleaner.
- Open up the monster and add a line of glue around the back side of the mouth. Glue the treat bag mouth.
- Once the glue is dry fill the treat bag.
- Cut off the top of the treat bag, fold the corners in and over and staple shut.
- Fold the monster back up.
- Glue the antennas to the back of the monster and let them completely dry.
How fun are these treats. You could also fill the back with stickers or trinkets instead of candy!
