Meet Aimee Leptick of The Little Bird Designs

National DIY DAY Ambassador | The Little Bird Designs | Peterborough Ontario Canada

My blog is based around handmade bags, accessories and fabric crafts but I do also love to share recipes! I started it as a way to document my handmade business and it just took off from there! I now include tutorials and recipes alongside my creations in hopes to inspire more people to get creative in their lives! I also love sharing the resources that I find and use to grow my blog and business.

The biggest challenge is staying up to date! I find creating is the fun part and taking the time to sit down and write takes a little bit longer!

Please share your favorite creative quote:

"You can't use up creativity. The more you use, the more have." Maya Angeluo

Please share a link to your most creative (or favorite) DIY or craft project blog:

Can you tell us your biggest craft fail?

My biggest craft fail is usually baking. I'm more of a cook. I once found what I thought was a delicious cookie recipe on Pinterest and gave it a go. To say they didn't turn out well, would be an understatement! They were harder than hockey pucks and my son would not touch them at all!

What is one piece of advice would you give someone wanting to start a blog or creative business:

Push through it and stay on top of your planning! You can't create and blog all in one day so setting up a schedule is the best advice I can give. Also STICK TO IT or it won't work ;)

Where do you get your creative inspiration?

The sense of community surrounding creating is what inspires me to create. I grew up in a crafty and creative home so I get my inspiration from learning alongside others and seeing people grow their creative talents. I love seeing the light in someone's’ eyes when they try something new or complete a challenging project that brings them pride. That creative happiness is like no other and I love seeing and experiencing that joy at the end of each project!

What are you most excited about for National DIY DAY?

I'm so exciting to spend an entire day dedicated to creating and sharing the love of Do It Yourself with my friends and community!

In 5 years, what is your goal for you and your blog?

In 5 years I would love to have my own creative workshop where I could not only teach adults full time but kids too! I would also love to begin drafting patterns for the bags that I design myself. I tend to do things "outside of the box" so I really want to share my secrets with the world!

Please share with us a fun fact about yourself:

I am a crazy cat lady. It's true, you can ask anyone and they will tell you that my little cat Piper is my best friend ;) He never leaves my side!
